Public Enquiry - Monday 6th February - 9:30am

Wigan Investment Centre
Waterside Drive, WN3 5BA

On Monday 6th February 2012 members of the M6 South of Wigan Action Group will take part in a Public enquiry.
Some of us will be speaking and some will just be observing from the public gallery.

This will be held at the Wigan Investment Centre 9:30am.

It’s now come down to a war of words.  It's our word against the council.

We have researched and gathered as much evidence as possible and are doing everything in our power to stop this.

Please first come to our St Aidan’s meeting on Tuesday 31st January (7:30pm) for more details.

Then come to the public enquiry on Monday 6th February.

Let’s prove to the government inspector that our community does not want this proposal to go ahead.

Save our green belt from becoming another part of “Concrete Wigan”.

Once the green belt is downgraded ANYTHING could take its place and this could set a precedent for other sites in Wigan

(look what's happening at Up Holland).

The community has ALREADY come together in the limited time available to try and stop Wigan Council destroying the last

bit of green open space in the area.

The enquiry involves a discussion between the inspector, members of the group, individuals and private companies who are

AGAINST the councils plans.  It will involve all parties sat round a table.

ANYONE FROM THE PUBLIC CAN TURN UP TO OBSERVE!

It will be sort of like a public gallery with the inspector chairing the discussions.

The council will be there represented by various planning staff and also GVA Grimley.

The discussion will be based on the inspectors questions raised regarding M6 J25.

For details of these questions click here.

AGAIN - ANYONE CAN ATTEND THE HEARING

Just turn up and show your support.

The government inspector will chair the meeting and will decide at a later date if J25 will go ahead

...or if the green belt will stay green.

PLEASE TURN UP AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!

It is expected that members of the public who wish to come and watch the proceedings will act in a civilised manner.

We know that the majority of people are at work so attending could be difficult.  Even if you can only spare an hour it would
make a massive difference to show the strength of feeling within the community!

For a map of how to get to the Investment Centre see below.  There is a free car park on site.  If you walk, go behind Trencherfield Mill and cross the canal.  Or go down Swan Meadow Road and you will see the sign for Wigan Investment Centre.

There is a small cafe on site.
